Jon Novotny 1855-1936 Frank J. Ficenec's wife, Mary, was born to Jon & Anna (Dobrovsky) Novotny, both emigrants from the Bohemia area. Jon Novotny was born in Chiudin, in then Czechoslovakia, in 1855. Anna Dobrovsky was born in Chaslav, in then Czechoslovakia, in 1858. Jon and Anna were married in 1873 there in Czechoslovakia. They emigrated to the United States about 1874, coming to New York when Jon was 19 and Anna was 16. They settled in the woods near the small town of Weston, in Saunders County, Nebraska to build a farm . They lived in a dugout in the side of a hill for three years, then built a house on the farm they had built. In 1876 their fist child, Mary, was born. After Mary, they had six more children: Anna (1878-1962), Joe (1881-1926), Frank (1883-1967), Emon (1886-?), Louis (1890-1964) and Jerry (1894-1950). When Jon and Anna retired, they moved into Weston. Jon died at the age of 81 from heart failure. Anna died at age 82 from heart failure.
