Jiri Ficenec 1833-1899 Jiri (Czech for 'George'), his wife Barbora and their four oldest children immigrated to the United States in 1867 from Bohemia (what is now the northern and western two-thirds of the Czech Republic), following his brother Jan's family. From the 1880 Census, we know they had five children - four living on their farm in Elk Precinct, Saunders County, Nebraska with them (as well as one farmhand, Vencel Kaecrek): Frank (14), John (11), Charles (6) & Amelia (3). Oldest son, Joe (29), also shows in the census with his own family. è 1880 Census page from Nebraska We've been told they also had daughters Anna & Kate that were older than Frank. As they don't show in the census, we can only assume they lived with their own families by them. Jiri and Barbora are buried in the St. John's Cemetery, Weston, Nebraska.
